Risky Behaviours

Adolescents are programmed to take risks and they are not good at thinking through the consequences of their risky behaviour.

Adolescents also want to identify with their peer group as the behaviour of their peers will have a significant impact on their behaviour.

Through the Social Norms Project we can find out the risky behaviours that young people are really engaging in and what they think their peer group are doing.  This is where it gets interesting, because young people's perceptions of what their peer group is doing is usually very far from reality!

Sharing the results of the social norms survey is a powerful tool in re-educating young people on the true behaviour of their peer group.
