Alcohol Film for Keystage 2 & 3

BBC Newsround have made an excellent film exploring the impact on children and young people of alcohol use, including the drinking in the family and dependency, effects on the body and behaviour.  It could be a useful resource for teachers and others to show as part of Drug, Alcohol & Tobacco Education curriculum, and emotional wellbeing – there are also website links at the end of the film to the BBC website for accessing support.  As you will be aware, research shows that over 1 million children in England are living in families where there is problematic drinking, and much of this is concealed, often leaving children isolated and neglected, having a huge impact on their daily lives.  This film deals with these issues sensitively and offers a wide range of messages about sensible use of alcohol.  While some sections are more appropriate for Keystage 2, there are some clips that would sit equally well in a Year 7/8 lesson.  http://bbc.co.uk/i/t0yhl/
