Would your school help a breastfeeding Mum?

You may have Mums coming to your school with young babies who breastfeed them at school events.  Did you know that The Equality Act (2010) says that it is sex discrimination to treat a woman unfavourably because she is breastfeeding. It applies to anyone providing services, benefits, facilities and premises to the public, public bodies, further and higher education bodies and associations.

Breastfeeding Welcome is a national programme where local public places agree to put up signage and support the rights of mothers breastfeeding on their premises. Swindon Public Health have launched the national Breastfeeding Welcome scheme in Swindon and can provide free signs and support to schools and other premises who would like to be part of this scheme.
