Website provides learning options for post 16s

Year 11 pupils daunted by the prospect of what to do when they leave school can benefit from a website with all the latest information on education and training.

The Learning Pathway website is a one-stop shop for all the learning options available to post 16s in Swindon.

Created by Swindon Borough Council’s Routes to Employment team in partnership with local learning providers, the site aims to increase confidence and understanding of the options available locally to enable young people to make informed decisions about their future.

The site was launched last year and has been updated over the summer to include details about occupational opportunities via the National Careers Service website as well as information on apprenticeships courtesy of the National Apprenticeship Service. It also lists all the post-16 courses available in schools and colleges in and around the Swindon area.

Part-time learning, scholarships, work experience opportunities and information on volunteering are all listed on the site as well as a page with useful contacts for advice and support.

Cllr Fionuala Foley, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “The Learning Pathway website is a fantastic resource and will help our young people make the right choices for their future.

“I would encourage any current Year 11s or those still thinking about their career paths to visit the website to benefit from the wide range of information and advice on offer.”
