The Big Pedal 2012

The Sustrans ‘Big Pedal’ competition has just closed after challenging pupils, parents and staff to cycle to school over the last 3 weeks. In total across the UK, over 890,000 journeys were logged over 15 days. The winners were the schools who managed to log the greatest number of journeys each day, compared to their number of pupils. These numbers were then converted into ‘times’ for completing the various stages of the race. There is more information here: www.thebigpedal.org.uk

 I am delighted to say that Oakhurst Primary School won 8 of the 15 daily stages, and were the overall national winners of the Primary Schools’ competition. Orchid Vale Primary and Haydonleigh Primary also finished in the top twenty schools nationally. The full Swindon Schools’ results are shown below:
