THE WILTSHIRE GARDENS TRUST

If by growing vegetables we can get more children eating them, then we are here to help.  When primary or special schools wish to make a garden in their grounds, we will try to advise and encourage them.  We have small grants to give to those who wish to start or who are already gardening but need to expand. These can buy tools, compost bins, water butts, or help with the hard landscaping etc.  We are finding that many children are enjoying their produce and in some cases have fed their classmates with special ‘food’ days.  These have been salad, soup or even pasta days, the latter had the sauce made from school garden vegetables!

We will come and visit when invited and we have a newsletter, ‘The Wheelbarrow’, that is sent out to every school along with free information sheets on many aspects of gardening.  We know that all subjects in the National Curriculum can be taught in the garden and some children find the outdoors easier than the classroom.  It does not stop with vegetables as many flowers grow well alongside them and brighten up the school garden.  Can we help you?
