Sustrans - Routes To Play

Sustrans - Routes To Play

Sustrans are pleased to launch Routes to play - their new guide to ensuring children and young people can get to play spaces actively and independently.

Recent research has identified traffic as one the main barriers to children's play and The Play Strategy (DCSF and DCMS, December 2008) calls on local authorities to develop safe and accessible walking and cycling routes to play spaces. The significant investment going into play facilities in England at the moment is a fantastic opportunity to improve the local play offer across the country.

Routes to play gives practical guidance on planning active access into play area development and will be of interest to parks managers, play lead officers, transport and planning officers and many others whose work impacts on children's play.
