1st Healthy Schools Blog Post

Date: 1 Nov 2019

Morning to everyone on this sunny autumnal morning.

This is my first blog to schools, since deciding to cut back on sending an extensive newsletter every three months.

I’m hoping to keep in touch with you more frequently this way and keep you updated with all the new resources I receive from various partners.

So last week I sent you all an email explaining all this and uploaded: 'Save a Friend' Initiative with a downloadable parents guide to support parents and family’s with knife crime. I also shared ‘why do we sleep?' to support schools and parents with understanding the importance of sleep for everyone in particular young people.

This week I am uploading a document which can support schools and colleges in embedding good practice in the field of transgender and minimise distress and disruption to all concerned. The first document is a guidance from the Education Authority for EOTAS centres and Youth Services. Special Schools may benefit looking at this document. The second document is a Cornwall Schools Transgender guidance written in collaboration with Cornwall Council, The Intercom Trust, Devon & Cornwall Police and head teachers in 2012.

I hope these valuable resources will support you, if you need further support or guidance don’t hesitate in contacting us.

I will also urge you to share your good work and news with us so we can share it with all our schools across Swindon.
