Healthy Weight

Healthy weight is a key public health priority and schools have been involved in a range of projects to help encourage children and young people to eat healthily and engage in physical activity.

Through Healthy schools plus many schools have focused on healthy weight projects and there are some case studies detailing a range of projects including; breakfast clubs, increasing uptake of school meals, healthy packed lunches, cooking clubs, after school activity clubs and lots more.

One initiative that encourages a healthy approach to food is the Food for Life partnerhship.  Haydon Leigh Primary school is a flagship Food for Life school and have achieved the Silver Food for Life award.  Ridgeway Secondary school have recently achieved the bronze award and  a number of other schools have started working towards Food for Life accreditation.
