School holidays can be pressure points for some families due to increasing costs and reduced incomes. For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap.

Children from disadvantaged households are:

• less likely to access organised out-of-school activities
• more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays'
• more likely to experience social isolation.

‘Funded’ holiday clubs are a response to this issue. Evidence suggests can have a positive impact on children and young people. Please remember to support pupils in your setting to access the HAF programme.

Eligibility

To be eligible for HAF, a child must fall into one of the following categories:
 In receipt of benefits related free school meals
 Additional 15%:
o Young Carers
o Children on a child protection/ Child in Need plan

Please note that for Winter 2023 children will be allocated 4 day sessions for HAF, this means they can access four different activities rather than being limited to one HAF provider as per previous HAF programmes. Winter HAF will be running on 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, 29th December.
We would appreciate the schools support with assisting parents who may struggle to navigate the voucher system to book HAF activities and would also be very grateful of your support to our providers who may be in contact with you to request information about children at your school regarding additional needs.
