Physical Activity
This core theme contributes significantly to the Every Child Matters "be healthy" national outcome for children.
To meet the Healthy Schools core theme criteria, schools must ensure that pupils are provided with a range of opportunities to be physically active, that they understand how physical activity can help them to be healthier, and how physical activity can improve and be part of their everyday lives.
Physical Activity Guidance Booklet A and Booklet B. These booklets, published by the national Healthy Schools programme and filed in your Support Material ring binder, provide lots of help towards meeting the criteria.
With the terrific good practice that is taking place in Swindon through the work of School Sports Co-ordinators and the networks, our work with this core theme is progressing well. We are doing really well with the two hours of planned provision (Public Service Agreement target) and we have some superbly interesting and exciting extra-curricular activities.
